Tasked with migrating more than 5,000 luxury items — each with detailed imagery, descriptions, and bilingual content — we helped a vintage luxury retailer move from a limited e-commerce platform to Shopify in under six weeks. The result was a faster, more scalable site built to support long-term growth, SEO performance, and operational efficiency.

A Hong Kong–based vintage luxury retailer approached us to support a critical platform transition. Their business had outgrown its existing e-commerce system, which was limiting performance, scalability, and operational efficiency. With over 5,000 unique luxury items, bilingual content, customer data, and established SEO rankings at stake, the migration needed to be precise, fast, and risk-free.

We were engaged to lead the full replatforming to Shopify — from data migration and website redevelopment to SEO optimisation — all within a tight six-week timeline.

The Challenge

Unlike conventional e-commerce stores, this retailer’s inventory consisted entirely of one-of-a-kind vintage luxury pieces. Each product carried high value, extensive imagery, detailed descriptions, and bilingual (Chinese and English) content. Any data loss or SEO disruption would directly impact revenue and customer trust.

The client needed to:

  • Migrate more than 5,000 products without errors
  • Preserve all images, descriptions, and bilingual content
  • Retain customer data and historical records
  • Rebuild all landing pages on a new platform
  • Protect search rankings and organic traffic
  • Complete the entire project within six weeks, without interrupting daily sales operations

Our Approach

We began by auditing the existing platform structure, content hierarchy, and SEO performance to ensure nothing critical would be lost during the transition. A detailed migration framework was then developed, mapping every product attribute, image, translation, customer record, and landing page to Shopify’s architecture.

The website was rebuilt with performance, scalability, and long-term growth in mind. Special care was taken to preserve bilingual functionality across all pages, ensuring a seamless experience for both Chinese- and English-speaking customers. Throughout the process, we worked closely with the client to validate data accuracy, test workflows, and refine the user journey.

SEO was treated as a core part of the project rather than an afterthought. Existing URLs, metadata, and site structure were carefully managed to protect rankings while improving overall site speed and crawlability.

The Outcome

The new Shopify website was successfully launched within six weeks — on time and without data loss. Over 5,000 products were migrated accurately, with all imagery, descriptions, translations, and customer data intact. The retailer gained a faster, more stable platform that supports daily operations and future growth, while maintaining search visibility and customer trust.

The result was not just a technical migration, but a future-ready e-commerce foundation designed to scale with the business.
